Catch Her if You Can
Who is Sibella Court? Interior Stylist, Designer, Creative Director, Interiors Editor, Author, TV personality or Shop owner. Well she’s a tiring mix of all, a nonstop travelling gypsy. Currently, Sydney based, Sibella gives us a visual guide of just a few of her projects …
Sibella Court only wears about 4 colours, so this look is her signature palette of cream, whites & caramels.
“I have a lot of riding boots and these ones are my favourite, Golden Goose, they have travelled many miles and look loved & well worn!” Sibella
Romy: What do miss about no longer living in NYC? (I know it was hanging with me downtown!!!)
Sibella: Other than hanging with you, I miss Barbara Bui , museums, the farmers market & the other 277 shops, places, restaurants etc noted in my book, The Stylist’s Guide to NYC. Oh and the pavlova at Balthazar!
Sibella’s latest book, The Stylist’s Guide to NYC, launches this month at her shop, The Society Inc.
“I have my workshop ‘Colourbox’ Roughly every 3 weeks I hold ‘in conversations with’ me & friends at the shop” Sibella
Romy: What’s on your bedside table?
Sibella: My beautiful Chinese style light, made from 1970s vintage gingham. It glows oh-so-perfectly. A pile of books and a big jug of water that I forget to drink during the day.
“I recently worked on the conception & construction of uber-cool bar and restaurant MsG’s, love it! Try a homemade slurpee if you go, they are the best but warning: you might dance the night away!” Sibella
“We worked on MsG’s for about 6 months (in amongst all my other projects) & I collected old tools, hooks, signage, stencils, old rope, industrial light fittings and everything in between from Sydney, Melbourne, NYC, Kyoto, London & Amsterdam” Sibella
Romy: What did you last google?
Sibella: The dimensions of a T2 combie van. I am going to convert it into a bar in the new space I am designing
“This is York 75 , the sportsbar I designed last year in Sydney’s CBD. I wanted it to feel like a bookcase & filled it with vintage sports paraphernalia” Sibella
Romy: Whats on your list of things to do today?
Sibella: about 5 million things! I have lists of lists for lists.
