The last 3 years I’ve been amongst the judges for the Australians in New York Fashion Foundation. The AINYFF was established to create opportunities & connecting young Australians with valuable internships in NYC’s fashion industry and now Europe aswell. I just happened to be in NYC for their annual fundraiser, where we certainly dropped the D and raised some fun!

She’s just so pretty! The palest blue eyes and that unintentional pout! Here we sneaked an exclusive 1st time shot of Samara Weaving with her cousin Harry Greenwood (Hugo Weaving’s son) from our NIDA Graduate shoot. Samara is best known for her roles in Home and Away and the BBC production Out of the Blue and is now putting those good looks & talent to work on her feature film debut co-staring with uncle, Hugo Weaving, in Mystery Road.

I was literally eclipsed by the talent of ghd Hair Director Alan White, flawless makeup by Allison Boyle and Australia’s hottest NIDA alumni when shooting our ‘Graduate’ story last week. Alan, as usual, waved his magic wand (in this case the ghd eclipse) to create a flick fest of perfect hair. The behind the scenes uniform was all plaid so dare I say…check it out!
In the lead up to this weekend’s annual NIDA Foundation Trust Fundraising Gala, I was invited backstage at NIDA where some of this countries brightest young stars and biggest exports have trained and perfected their craft. Exclusively for StyleMeRomy.com, I caught up with six recently graduated alumni as they share with me their future plans and fondest memories of life at NIDA.

A Fond NIDA memory: running around Room 1 in an exercise called The Hunt. Letting our imaginations run wild (literally!) like we were kids again.
What new projects are you currently working on/ next seen in: Recently involved in an episode of Redfern Now S2. Starred in a US film called ‘Jessabelle’ out next January, and also in aussie film ‘Predestination’, with Ethan Hawke and Noah Taylor, out soon.
Ideal role: I don’t have a dream role yet… I want to do them all! No, just a role that is challenging and fulfilling. But…perhaps not satisfying. Because if I’m satisfied, I’ll stop. And I’m not ready to stop just yet.

Graduated, 2012
A Fond NIDA memory: Working with Imara Savage on my graduation show.
What projects they are currently working on: ‘Old School’ for ABC TV with Bryan Brown and Sam Neill.
I would love to work with one or all of the following: Guillermo del Toro, Sofia Coppola, Noah Baumbach and Jim Jarmusch.
A Fond NIDA memory: I’ll never forget the first day and doing our monologues for the rest of the year group. It was so exciting to watch each other knowing we’d be working together for the next three years.
What new projects are you currently working on: I’m very happy to be working on guest roles for both the upcoming nine miniseries LOVE CHILD and a new Australian drama series, soon to be announced. As well as being in discussion for upcoming US feature films after a successful visit to LA.
A Fond NIDA memory: When the courtyard theatre roof blew off in a storm and the set of Richard III was completely flooded. It was days before opening night and, in those situations, all you can do is laugh. The technical crew were amazing though and the show went on which is pretty incredible when I think back on it.
What new projects are you currently working on: a new Australian drama series, soon to be announced.
Ideal acting role: Perhaps something comedic? Being funny on screen isn’t something I’ve really done before so that would be a cool challenge.
A Fond NIDA memory: We did a production of Dons Party in the first year directed by Anthony Simcoe and Gough Whitlam came to see it. Great days on stage creating shows with my classmates who are lifelong friends .
What new projects are you currently working on: Nominated for Best Actor at the Helpmanns for The Secret River and the drama”Parers war”for ABC
