Mademoiselle Gabriele

What would I do without Gabriele Hackworthy? She is currently the Fashion Director of Harper’s Bazaar UK, chic beyond belief & the perfect London host. We met at Marie Claire on our first jobs in fashion & we’ve been best friends ever since. She’s gone onto work for Australian, China & Japan Vogue. Here’s a little insight into Gabriele’s world from her home in London…

“The Constance bag by Hermes looks good enough to put on a mantlepiece.” GH

“3 things I cant live without…
My Daughter: Charlotte
My Watch: This is an original Chanel “Premiere” watch from 1987,  the year Chanel first launched timepieces.
My Ring: The ring I never take off Pomellato (I love the combination of Rose Gold Black diamonds and Onyx).” GH

“I collect fashion, art and photography books and killer high heels. Books are a constant source of inspiration as are these Jimmy Choo shoes.” GH

“Bill Henson if one of my favourite living artists; this print has travelled all over the world with me and reminds me of Australia. My sofa is B&B Italia and is as iconic as Chanel’s 2.55 bag and a Panama hat.” GH

“My Scent: Le Labo Rose 31
My favourite Photographer: Helmut Newton (his autobiography, a great read).
The perfect disco bag: Chanel
Favourite rings: Gaia Repossi; she is constantly reinventing fine jewellery.
Love anything with an ‘H’ Plate by Hermes.” GH

“I never go in the sun without a hat and buy a new panama on every vacation. They serve as wall decorations and great memories of summer.” GH

“My first job when I left Australia was Fashion Director of Vogue Japan where I fell in love with all things Japanese, this Isabel Marant jacket included.” GH

Acne special edition “Snowdon” pyjamas, Alexander McQueen velvet slippers, hand written notes which I use as book marks (especially from my favourite designer Nicholas Ghesquiere), first edition books and a present from Romy (I am so analogue!).” GH

“I collect mid century furniture and this Hans Wegner Wishbone chair is a modern classic, as is this Balenciaga bag. Both are well loved.” GH

“A little tired after drinking martinis with Romy in London!” GH

Enchanté Martin Grant

Whilst wandering around the Marais on a sunny afternoon in Paris I visited Martin Grant in his studio. It was the most Parisian place of work, complementing his perfectly tailored, chic silhouettes and sculptured pieces.

Martin on the move: Melbourne born but Paris based (for over 20 years) we chatted about his recent appointment of being chosen to redesign the uniforms for Qantas and one of his fav restaurants, Ferdi, in Paris where he frequents with the ultimate style icon, Lee Radziwill. Très cool!

All clothing from Martin Grant‘s most recent Fall 12 collection.

Horsing Around in France

Ok, so don’t ever take any tips from me at a racecourse (lost all my money!) but I did manage to get some great pics from the 163rd Prix de Diane Longines races in Chantilly, France.

Like a fairytale we were taken through the forest in Chantilly to the racecourse by horse & carriage.

Longines are the very appropriate official timekeepers of the Prix de Diane.

Fashions at the Longines tent.

Moi wearing: The Hatmaker‘s custom made headband, Martin Grant dress, Longines watch, vintage bracelet from Kozminsky and Prada earrings.

Longine’s announced their new ambassador Australian actor, Simon Baker, in the queue to collect his winnings!

Fellow Australians, Andrew Peacock (former Liberal Party Leader) and his wife joined the tent in Chantilly.
