Elliott does Chanel
Supermodel of the nineties, Gail Elliott, got her strut back at the Chanel show in Sydney last night. Gail, who is now behind the label Little Joe Woman walked the catwalk for Chanel’s spring summer ready-to-wear collection at the MCA. She texted me a few days ago “Just finished my Chanel fitting! Haven’t done a show in probably 12 years!!!”
“I’m thrilled to have been asked to be on the runway at Chanel in Sydney. I showed for Karl Lagerfeld for 12 years during pret-a-porter and couture seasons during the 90’s, and spent much time at the House of Chanel on Rue Cambon. He’s an amazingly talented person, a pleasure to work with and extremely generous.”
“I love this image of Yasmin, Amber LeBon and I. Amber was just three years old in 1991. I still have the pearls & earrings I was wearing and the belt Yasmin wore that Karl kindly gifted me. And Karl made Amber’s little pink romper suit especially for her. We had so much fun doing that show as you can see on our faces!” Gail Elliott
“I met Romy in New York about 13 years ago. She’s a great girl and talented stylist and so much fun to be around. We used to spend a lot of time together in New York… I used to tell her she had a bit of a Christy Turlington look and she’d get very shy and giggle!.” Gail Elliott.
Gail my friend, you looked just as incredible now as you did back then.
Oh I really want to be on this boat! Well this was the inspiration for my look last night. The Chanel Saint Tropez Cruise collection is a current favourite of mine, loving long hemlines in candy colours.
