The Zimmermann show was reminiscent of the days when I met Nicky more than ten years ago. The days when we were running around Bondi in our tiny little pastel print dresses. I love that I’ll be reliving my youth this season in Zimmermann. There was a modern edge and it was carved out in floral sorbets, sugar coated laser cuts and fine mesh.

Collaborative SS12/13 inspiration collage by Michael Lo Sordo and Lyndall Frollano
Anything different this season? For SS12/13 we collaborated with jewellery designer, Venice. There’s a focus on colour and hand blown glass insects mixed with polished rose gold and silver.
What’s the hair inspiration for the collection? I only had one thing in mind and that was the 1969 film, The Swimming Pool with Romy Schneider and Alain Delon. Working alongside Redken and hair director Richard Kavanagh for the first time, together we pushed this theme into something modern and relevant that really compliments the collection.
Where’s your head at right now? Somewhere between last week’s emails, approval for the intimate guest list, finalising designs and on one dress from the collection that has me sleepless.
Where would you like to be after fashion week? It’s my birthday so should anyone need me I will be getting a massage while drinking wine in some valley in the middle of nowhere.
OFFSPRING: Bo Olliver, 6 (Designer, Nicky Zimmermann & Managing Director, Chris Olliver)
You can’t rush masterpieces. This was planned with much seriousness the evening before and took eight hours to become a reality (headphones on, in the zone).
OFFSPRING: Justice Maximus Single, 5 (Designer, Dan Single & Accessories designer, Pip Edwards)
Justice agreed to draw his favourite fashion week look, sans jacket. Superstar demands? No. He just can’t draw a mean jacket quite yet.
OFFPSRING: Elsa Farquharson, 8 (Goddaughter to designer, Fernando Frisoni)
“When I hear fashion, I feel like I can design anything!!!” Elsa Farquharson 2012
OFFSPRING: Finn McGreal, 7 (Stylist, Romy Frydman & Photographer, Patrick McGreal)
It’s not about the outfit, it’s all about the lightening shoes and the accessories (designer dinosaur bag and soccerball).
Anything different this season? We started with really classic, chalky-toned florals and the idea of working them into garments in an unexpected way: mix the prints and mix the textures. No tricked up, digital artwork this season.
What’s your favourite piece? Spliced floral dress with front and back twists. It’s pretty but still has a strength to it. It’s very Zimmermann.
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received? I’ve been told a few times that I look better in real life than I do in photos. I guess it’s half diss, half compliment!
What gets you through fashion week? What gets me through every fashion week – wine.
What are you wearing today? All black. Black Zimmermann riding boots, pants, shirt, cropped knit and Dries Van Noten trench. My personal style takes a back seat when I’m finishing a collection.
Tech addiction: Instagram during the day. Net-a-Porter at night.
This is exactly what we like about Ksubi: cool denim cuts and unusual proportions. It was all denim and denim and hibiscus and palm tree prints took us back to the early 90s with a 2000 twist.

Job well done Christine Centenera.
Dan & Bambi.
Thankyou Taras & Matt from TiLT Vision. I know I drove you crazy, but we got there in the end.. just.
Aurelio Costarella always has beautiful shows because of his attention to detail. Lots of texture and as always, it was very feminine. Long dresses, sequins, bling with models emerging from a cloudy backstage (aka smoke machine).
But only for the first 15 minutes. Dan Single was looking for me because his Mum was trying to watch the live stream at home, luckily I was hiding in a dark corner on the phone rebooting the server. Thank god Ksubi is always running late, so we got the whole show BOOM!
Three days before the Ksubi 2012 show with Stylist, Christine Centenera.
What’s your favourite piece? Right now it would be a couture corset encrusted with raffia and bead embellishment with exaggerated peplum in ivory tones. My fave piece changes almost daily as I’m seeing new pieces materialise over the weeks. This is the most exciting time during the evolution of a collection.
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received? Cate Blanchett coming back stage to congratulate me after my 2000 fashion week debut show and then naming my collection a highlight of the week. It doesn’t get much better than that.
At the Four Seasons Hotel, StyleMeRomy Headquarters, checking in with my tech guys to make sure SMR TV is actually going to happen. I’ve got the all clear to live stream the Ksubi show at 8PM.
